CAMCO (debt Collection Agency)
Trying to collect on a 11 year old debt that has already been settled!

I was contacted by RHONDA KING from CAMCO about a debt that I incurred in 1989 that has already been written off by a credit card company. She called me at a number that was never listed with the original creditor and mentioned the debt. She said that Camco purchased the debt of $1200 from the original creditor and tacked on a $1000 processing fee!!! &which brought the total to $2200.

I was told that I was lucky because they were going to generously LET me settle the debt for a mere $300 IF I would send the payment immediately. When I asked for written documentation of the debt, I was told that it had been mailed to me on the 16th of the previous month... But I never received anything from Camco.

After Rhonda persisted to try to get my bank information or other credit card information to settle the debt, I informed her that I still wanted to review written info. About the details of the debt, then call her back. I was given her number and told to call back when I had decided how I was going pay Camco.

After 3 days, I started to get numerous calls each day demanding payment. Yesterday, I got 5 calls in a row (!!) and was told that I could receive an e-mail instead of waiting on the written info. To come in the mail. The e-mail was only a form to make payment, although the debt had been reduced by $75 ONLY if I would Western Union the payment immediately!

Rhonda had the audacity to tell me how lucky I was to be able to save $75 at Christmas! Today, I have received calls from her and I then found this website. I am glad to know for sure that my gut feeling was right—

I am being scammed!

The e-mail listed CARL BALL at (866) 745-5420 (ext. 4023) for questions. I can only assume that he is the supervisor who approved the "generous" $75 savings!

Anyone who has been contacted by these people should contact the proper authorities immediately! These people are trying to take advantage of bad situations that happen to good people.

This must be stopped! Scams are illegal and hurt us all!!!
