Ripoff trying to collect on debt I don't owe, from 18 years ago!

For the past month, I have received two letters and several phone calls at work from people working for Camco, claiming that I owe money on a credit card account. The last activity was more than 18 years ago, and they said they purchased this account from Midland Acquisitions. They were missing several key pieces of information, such as my home phone number (called me at work!) and my complete social security number. They attempted to get me to verbally confirm the debt, my phone number and social security number.

I was very suspicious and upon doing some research, found this site and literally hundreds of complaints against Camco. I have written a dispute and cease and desist letter. I realize that if they checked my credit, or put anything about this debt on my credit report, that I can sue them. I will check my credit report, and if I find something on there from them, I will sue them.

Don't confirm the debt or any personal information if CAMCO calls or writes to you. What they are doing is at the very least unethical, if not illegal.
