Ripoff trying to collect a debt written off 14 years ago

Received a telephone call from from a "Lisa" @ CAMCO stating they purchased a debt from Chase Bank formerly held by Capital Financial Group, Inc. Lisa stated that if he didn't take care of the matter the debt would total almost $2400. If he dealt with her, it would be $1100. This conversation took place not with Robert (who had the debt), but his current girlfriend who answered the telephone.

When asked about the debt that was so old, Lisa stated there was no such thing as a statute of limitations when it came to paying a debt. They have an infinite amount of time to collect from the debtor. Camco could erase the late fees for him.

When Robert spoke to her, he explained that the debt was almost 15 years old, was written off, and wasn't responsible to pay, then hung up the telephone. The following week, he received a letter from them in an "Express Communication" envelope with a different return address (from Houston, TX) demanding payment.
