Over the past few days, I've had the unpleasant experience of trying to get a final bill from Comcast corrected. After I discontinued service, Comcast still incorrectly sent me a bill for the next billing period as if nothing had changed. My first call seemed promising. The representative told me that they would issue a new bill to correct the problem. The revised bill arrived a few days later.instead of just removing the admittedly mistaken charges from my bill, they left the charges there and instead gave me an offsetting credit. That would have been fine, but the formula they used understated the credit that I should have received, so instead of sending me a refund for my remaining credit, the bill still indicated that I owed them a small amount.

A few phone calls later, I was not satisfied with the progress, so I went to the local office. The girl at the window quickly went and got a supervisor who was loud, rude, and repeatedly cut me off when I would try to offer even the simplest of explanations of how I arrived at my calculations or why the per day credits they used in their calculations were incorrect. I think we eventually wore each other down. After she made me go sit and wait for someone from accounting, who never appeared, she later came out and said that they would issue a credit for an amount that was less than my calculations indicated that I should have received but close enough that it wasn't worth continuing to waste my time.

The way that the final bill calculated the credit or refund owed by Comcast was clearly wrong and clearly understated the credit I should have received. I would love to know whether Comcast systematically uses the same method to calculate credits owed to others on their final bills.
