Misrepresentation of sale - sold me at basic but signed me up for max contract, then won't let me out

Shops, Products, Services

My initial sale was a misrepresentation in that I signed up for basic programming. The sales person who evidently is not with Direct TV signed me up for the largest programming that you can get. I also let them know that I only wanted a year or less of service as I was moving and that I would be happy to pay a difference of the year contract. On the installation day, I went through a three hour process of trying to get this resolved with the installation tech as a witness. Finally I talked to a supervisor named Jared, who told me, that he fixed the installation and that since you are getting a standard receiver, your contract will be for 12 months and that he was sorry for the bad experience.
I am now moving as I said I was and am now told that I owe the difference for a 24 month contract. When I talked to customer service, and escalated the issue, I was told flatly NO. What the contract says is what you get. The corporate office, while admitting that it was unfortunate that I was misinformed, also told me NO.
In conclusion: It apparently does not matter what you are told at Direct TV as long as they get the sale. Then you are under contract and the human condition and circumstances are of no concern. I am asking that this be resolved to my satisfaction, so that I can tell my friends and associates that Direct TV may have made some mistakes, but at least they honored their commitment to me. Thus far that has not happened. They out and out said, they didn't care.
