Me, too... Ripped off

I wish I had read these reports first. I was in a hurry to move my daughter and James gave me a phone quote of $890 after asking questions about the load. Contract was set for pickup on 2/25 due to a truck in the area, credit card half on pickup, balance on delivery.

Credit card was immediately charged for full amount. Took a day to get it reversed. Then movers call a day early and say that they must pick up or we need to get someone else. No compensation for unplanned motel stay.

Nick now gets involved and says that he never agreed to the $890, goods weighed more than estimated and bill was $1735. Goods would not be delivered until money was deposited in his account. He would not accept any credit cards. Although the goods did weigh more, this rate was higher per pound than agreed upon.

After depositing cashier's check in his account, he would still not release the goods. He required a notarized statement from my bank that the check could not be stopped; it was an already cleared cashier's check!
Goods were released and driver required an additional $150 in cash to unload.

The office manager and james were friendly to deal with but ultimately only Nick could make the decisions and clear the goods for delivery. No one could explain why he was holding the goods when the money had been deposited in his account. I got hit by a classic bait and switch because I was in a hurry to get this done and they had me over a barrel for pickup and delivery.
