Moving company rip-off artists

BEWARE of this company.
My son needed to move from Manhattan to Las Vegas. He contacted ATRAF and received a low-ball estimate from an on-site estimator, of $1,000 to move 2,000 lbs (contents of a small loft apartment), excess over 2,000 lbs at. 50/lb. Movers arrived, wrapped, packed the truck, and left. Then called my son to say it would cost $7,500 to move the goods since they weighed 11,912 lbs. One of the movers had estimated after they loaded the truck, "maybe 6,000 lbs." ATRAF unloaded the goods into their warehouse.

I took the train to NY and met w/the movers. Yes, my son had a lot of stuff, but not 11,912 lbs. ATRAF never offered or showed us weight tickets to back up their claim; they wanted $1,500 to reload the goods and re-weigh them. Finally, since ATRAF was now holding the goods hostage, we agreed on $6,500 - what else could we do - to complete the move.

When the goods arrived in Las Vegas, my son paid the driver to get before and after weight tickets from a truck stop. The weight tickets showed my son's goods weighed 6,720 lbs., not 11,912 lbs.
ATRAF underbids to get the job, then they grossly overestimate the weight, and then hold your goods hostage until you pay. I won't even get into the damage to what was delivered.
BEWARE of these guys, an alley cat has more ethics.
