Unfair and highly deceptive sales practices.! Lying to the consumer to make a sale of a service

Directv uses unfair and highly deceptive sales practices. They had my wife and I on a one year contract, the wife wanted to add a DVR receiver to record programs while asleep or away. We had planned on moving to Phoenix, Az. From Roanoke, Va. 9 months later and I told her o. K if it did not extend our contact after the 12 months had expired i.E. Month to month was good. Directv assured us no problem, both of us on the phone with the sales rep. Heard him say this!

Then 6 months later when we did our move to Az. These people tried to shake us down for $287 for a fraudulent early termination fee for an extended contract they told us we did not have.! We complained to the supervisors and they said just write a letter to the home office explaining this and all would be taken care of.

We wrote 2 letters from Va. And 1 from Az. To no avail we found out later! Meanwhile I was turned down by 7 or 8 creditors for a home refinance only to find out Directv has been responsible for ruining my credit by turnining their fraudulent claim over to a collection agency and now it is on my credit files. I can well afford to pay the $287 but it is the priciple of the matter with this fraud to consumers.

If you search FTC, you State's records, Attorney Gen. Record, there are all sorts of very similar complaints. One gent said he had never been treated so badly by a sevice company and was going back to DISH, which he had for 15 years! Guess who I will never go with again?
