Sheisty Sales Reps Sells Unnecessary Services to Elderly

I moved in with my grandmom after my grandpa passed away this year. She kept worrying about her phone bill so I decided to look at her home phone bill with AT&T.

I couldn't believe my eyes! She had been paying for unlimited long distance ($24.95 taxes/mo) and "inside wire protection" ($7.50/mo) in addition to her regular Complete Choice Plan for local service ($29.99/mo taxes).

So I went online and changed her plan. She didn't need unlimited long distance and I had to call AT&T to have the "inside wire protection" removed (because it wasn't even shown on the website). The AT&T customer service rep pretty much said that it wasn't needed because any repairs with the phone lines would be free of charge.

I saved my grandmom almost $40/mo... Something the sales rep claimed to do when he came to her house that day! They know who to target.
