Extended warranty not honored on leaking GE water heater

In January of 2006 we bought a GE water heater from Home Depot, including installation and a lifetime labor extended warranty. Two and a half years later the tank began leaking this past Monday night, flooding our basement. For three days I have been calling and visiting the Warranty department, GE, Executive customer relations, and the store itself, and the water heater has still not been replaced, though the warranty covers it. I have never dealt with a more incompetent group of people. What I get is only evasion and excuses. The latest came from David Moriarty, the store manager, who said yesterday that he had mixed me up with another customer when he said the installer was on the way. Unbelievable. For over 3 days we have been unable to shower or wash dishes or laundry, with no end in sight. Do NOT ever purchase a large appliance from this outfit of incompetent and dishonest people. And DEFINITELY do NOT buy an extended warranty. It is as worthless as they are.
