GE 12 year water heater life time warranty on service and labor - 12 year GE water heate

I ordered a 12 year GE water heater from home depot and got it installed by home depot contractor. When I ordered the water heater, the home depot person gave me a pamphlet which said the if the water heater is installed by home depot, the installation includes our best warranty "life time tank and parts and life time service and labor". Although the installation was more than the water heater, I ordered the water heater because it said lifetime service and labor.

Two weeks ago we had a problem with the water heater - no hot water, only warm water was coming. I called the home depot 1-800 number. I was asked to contact GE and then Rheem who is the manufacturer for GE. Rheem person said that I don;t have life time warranty. If there is any problem with the water heater, Rheem will cover the parts and I have to pay for the labor. Rheem person asked me to contact their authorized plumbing company in San Antonio.

Then, I contacted the home depot warranty person in Atlanta. He asked me to scan the pamphlet and the bill and email them to him. I did. After two days, he told me that I don't have the life time warranty.

Then, I went to the home depot where I ordered the water heater, and showed the pamphlet and the bill. He called home depot, GE and Rheem and told me that I do not have life time warranty. The pamphlet was given to me by mistake.

I am really disappointed with home depot. How to trust them any more?
