Does not verify identity of customers, lets others steal your name

Over the last few years T Mobile has sent two letters to me regarding accounts I never opened with them. The first time they looked up my address in Michigan and demanded an overdue bill from Indiana. I have never had a Telephone from T Mobile. When I told their rep to leave me alone she asked for my social security number so she could look up my account. When I refused to give her my ss# she said she couldn't do anything for me except continue to send collection notices. Obviously they didn't ask for the person in Indiana to identify themselves. Either that or they just look in the phone book and try collecting money from random people.

What are the odds that some kid would use my name again? Pretty good I guess because today I got a letter saying that I have added or removed someone from my account. They didn't print the account number on the letter, they didn't have my address right, and they told me the same thing as last time. All they need is my ss# and everything will be ok. Do they think I'm retarded? I'll never give out information about myself that these con artists don't have and I wont verify any information for them either. All they need to know is that I don't have service with them and that they put some sleezy punk in a kiosk at the mall. That should be enough for them to tell their customer to stop in and show his I.D.

I'm wondering if anyone else is getting bills who never had a phone from T Mobile. They threatened my credit the first time but since they didn't have my ss# they couln't do anything. Maybe if enough people are recieving fraudulent bills we could all get some money. If someone steals anything and you end up with it you can get into trouble for recieving stolen property. So what happens when a company knowingly continues to recieve stolen names and tries to extort money from you by threatening your credit? Obviously nothing yet. Something will have to happen soon. They have a lot of money and a poor practise, it makes them a perfect target for the news.
