Over 6 months ago I sold a work of art to a California Dealer for $9000. For a customer of hers. I usually pack everything myslef as I woek on ebay and have never had a problem. I decided to take the framed poster to the UPS store and let them do it, in case there was a problem it would not reflect on me. Whe the framed poster arrived at the destination in California it was opened up to find that when the employees packed the item they did not wrap it in bubble wrap or plastic before covering it in TAPE! Well the tape of coarse when removed from the 80 year olf antique frame, which held most of the value, much of the gilding and 80 years of patina were stripped off along with pieces of plaster. The customer was irate, did not want the piece and it took UPS a couple months to pick it up. I have been fighting them ever since, I have called the owner of the UPS Store Ike Spears who told me they were going to pay me, never came. I called corperate headquarters, talked to everyone there, submitted several professional appraisels, never heard anything. They finally wanted to me take it to one of "Their Appraisers" for a assessment, and I have had enough. I cannot even get back my $250.00 I spent to ship the item. I volunteered to work with UPS to settle this & owner of UPS Store Ike Spears and finally after two appraisels which they will not accept I don't know what else to do. The frame is not completely damaged and can be fixed but I lost a sale for $9000. Which I insured the item for and I can't even get my shipping back?
