Over Charge $153.00 for 40 Joliet

I am sixty two years old and we have a Boch gas range and the brolier and self-clean did not work very well it is two years old, so I called the sears repair center and set up a time that sears could come out and diagnose the problem, I asked what their charges would be. The person told me that it would be a $65.00 for the diagnosis plus the parts cost and plus labor charges and the $65.00 would be applied toward the labor charges if I decided to have it repaired, if I decided not to have it repaired that I would have to pay the diagnosis $65.00.

A repair man came out and it took him twenty minutes to find out what was wrong It was a gas jet half pluged so he took a peice of scrap electrical wire he had in his tool box and cleand one gas jet hole out then he reassembled the range in fifteen minutes.

All together he had thirty five minutes in the repair and the bill was $153.00 with no parts. I've had repairs done before on different things by different repair shops and they have a diagnoses charge to, but if you do have it repaired they apply it toward the labor cost.

I called Sears and being very nice to the person that answered the phone and they directed me to customers relations and was disconnected. I called back and they told me that they would call me the following day which was Saturday, stayed home all day and no call so Monday I called being very nice again to the people answering the phone telling them the story. They connected me to Customer Relations the lady said that she would get my service order together and call me back in five minutes,

Well I am still waiting for the call so Tuesday I will call again to see what their hourly rate is and if the bill is right then the total cost for them to do the repair was $218.00 minus $65.00 which comes to $153.00 for them to take out 12 screw, one gas jet and run a piece of wire through the jet all in thirty five minutes that is more then my Professor of Cardiology transplant Dr. Charges me for a one hour visit.

The range is works fine but I think that the charges were extremely high. I was talking to a friend of mine and he said that (SEARS) stood for (Shaft Every American Real Severely)!
