Fraudlent, dishonest, very poor telephone service. They are stealing the consumer money and they need to be stopped

Earthlink is a nightmare telephone/internet service. I switched from Verizon to Earthlink thinking that I would get a better deal. The rep reassured me that they had quality service. Within the first week I had echoing on the line. The other parties could not hear me. Calls would constantly drop as if I was using a cell phone. No dial tone for hours at a time. I constantly called EL to report the problem. However this turn out to be an ongoing event. My internet service was inoperable for 1 wk at a time. EL sent a service tech to my home twice he claimed that he needed to meet with verizon. After a month of this nonsense I cancelled the service after being charged $130.72 stating that I did not return their box. I called the rep to cancel my services told EL their services were very poor. One month later thinking that I was free from EL. They took $83.00 from my account. I called EL asking why did they take money out of my account. EL states that I am still active with them and I had never cancelled. Also they owned my telephone number and that I would be charged an addtional $150.00 for the cancellation. I had been without service more than I had service with Earthlink. Something needs to be done about this company. I cannot and donot have money just to give them or for them to take whenever they feel like it. How can they continue to rip consumers off like this. I really need help to fight these people.
