Sprint Earthlink screwed me out of $200

Earthlink (part of Sprint) is my internet service provider. When they set me up online, they picked the numbers that i would dial up to get online. I got my phone bill the other day, and they had picked all long-distance numbers, which cost me over $200.

I had to call my phone company because i didn't understand what the number was for on my phone bill; they explained it was an internet dial-up. When i then called earthlink for the first time they said there was nothing i could do about it, that it was up to my phone company (verizon) to be understanding. The woman i talked to at verizon had been through this before, so she gave me some advice, and then i called earthlink back.

So, after three hours on the phone, earthlink offered me two months of free service, which has a value of $40. I don't really think $40 covers my $225 phone bill or the annoyance of them trying to take advantage of me.
