Air Filter Marked Delivered but Never Received, Claim Closed

I ordered an AC filter from a company online. It was to be shipped by FedEx, per the vendor's shipping method.
I never received anything, although my credit card was charged by the vendor for the filter. When I inquired using the FedEx online tracking system, I learned that the package had been delivered according to their records.
I contacted them, as I never received anything at my door. They informed me that, according to the driver, they had delivered. Because no signature was required by the company that sold me the filter, FedEx did not require a signature from me to deliver the product; that is, there was no proof of delivery by the driver. Despite this, FedEx maintained that the driver told them he had left the product at my door. It was a 30 dollar filter.
FedEx sent me a final letter telling me that my complaint had been resolved and they could not help me because there was no signature requirement from the vendor and their driver said he had delivered the package. I never received the package.
The costly signature option is an added feature to the regular service and therefore more expensive for the vendor. For a 30 dollar filter, I understand that the vendor used the regular FedEx delivery service without incurring the higher delivery cost of a signature. You would expect this basic FedEx service to be trustworthy, and that the people behind it deserve your trust, wouldn't you?
FedEx always denied it and made me feel as if I was lying. I got a resolution when my wife simply informed the company that sold the air filter. They graciously sent us another air filter, using, I believe, another provider... It arrived rapidly.
I will not use FedEx anymore for domestic or international shipments. The largest item I shipped with FedEx was a full antique salon, I believe five pieces in the Napoleon style, that I directly imported from France. It cost about 3,000 dollars to ship from Nice, France, directly to Dallas, TX, by plane with FedEx. Considering the high value of the shipment, it is very important to track these costly collection and antique items by sending them by plane. As I am European, I cannot avoid shipping from Europe, and it includes very large items on occasion... such as highly valued and rare antiquities... that cannot be shipped by boat due to security issues, the large weight, and most of all the very high value of the shipment (well over $10,000 once in the US and at market price for antiquities).
I will not work with FedEx anymore, whatever the size, from postcard to container size shipments and plane shipments.
Too bad, FedEx people. The 30 dollar air filter that you never recognized having lost, and that I never received, is going to cost you my business and the business of overseas customers.
I guess you at FedEx missed the point. $30 was not the issue for me. The principle of making me feel that I was dishonest and lying about never having received the air filter package really was the issue. And your poor customer handling was also the issue. Can't your driver make a mistake? I bet you never even looked in your database to check the volume of business I was providing you with... Your mistake!
Have a great day now.
