T-Mobile
Ripoff charged me $400.00 for early termination of contract after the contract was satisfied

I would like to express my disappointment with T-Mobile cell phone service. I started with them about 5 years ago. I signed a 1-year contract and in spite of dropped calls and bad service I stayed with them just so I wouldn't have to change my number. When the portability of numbers became available I still stayed with them even though my service had issues. When I complained they always said that they were working on the tower in that area and would credit me minutes. My problem came about when they offered a new plan (they were not offering my current plan anymore) with more minutes for the same money.

I asked that since I was a long time user could I get the same program. They agreed. At the same time, since I was on the phone anyway I decided to pay my bill via the phone. I had never done that before. As it turned out they committed me to an automated payment program. I did not know this until I received my Discover bill. I left it alone since it seemed ok and now it is 11 months later and my service still stinks. I was talking with a client and the call was dropped. It was the last straw. I went to Verizon and ported over my numbers.
I have been very satisfied with this (Verizon) new service.

A couple of days later I called T-Mobile to see what my last bill was. Imagine my suprise when I heard over $400.00. When I asked why so much they said that I ended my contract 34 days early. As far as I knew I satisfied my agreement 4 years ago. Remember my asking for the new plan they were offering? They said when I asked for that it became a contractual agreement. I did not remember them asking my permission to agree to a new 1-year contract. Remember the automated payment? When I asked to cancel that they said that it would take 3 or more billing cycles before I would see that happen. I offered (in good faith) to pay the pro-rated 34 days of service but they wouldn't hear it. You owe us the money and it is your responsibility to pay it. I asked (in writing 3 times) for them to prove that I agreed to extend the contract and they refused. They said that they did not have to prove it. Now they have a collection company after me. Guess which one? Pinnacle Financial. The same one that in listed on this site. They claim that they have sent me 3 letters but I haven't received any. They called me a deadbeat and that they would continue to harass me until I paid.

Anyone have similar issues with T-Mobile or Pinnacle?
