And MCI PHONE SLAMS ripoff

It all started about 2 years ago when my husband was investigating phone companies for DSL purposes. At that time, we had two phone lines - one for phone usage and one for computer/fax usage. AT&T and its automated program conned us into thinking that DSL was already in our area (it wasn't).

When my husband found out, he told the automated program to cancel the order, then called to verify that the order had been cancelled. Long story short, we were changed over to AT&T even though DSL was not available by them in our area. After 6 months of registered letters, logged telephone calls and finally a long letter to the local authorities, AT&T dropped the bill. I thought the matter was closed because Bell South put a red flag on our new DSL phone line to prohibit this from happening again.

Fast forward to May. Guess what comes in the mail. You got it - a bill from AT&T for the fax/computer line which we had disconnected from our house!!! I called AT&T and was getting the run around until I verbally noted "this call is being recorded for verifying purposes, the date is - , the person I am talking to is - and AT&T is slamming me again." Well, the operator immediately said "We are not slamming you!" which means they were listening to everything I said. He had no answer when I asked who authorized this phone switch to a line I no longer own! He promised me the matter was concluded and that I would not receive another bill from them.

June - just got another bill for $7.79 from AT&T for the disconnected line!

To add insult to injury, MCI has also slammed this defunct line to the tune of $25.32, so now I will call TWO PHONE COMPANIES ON MONDAY!

Beware of slamming by the phone companies, people.
