Forced to Pay for Cancellation, their lack of service ripoff

I had been a US Cellular customer for 5 years. I was very happy with the service until I moved to TX and found that US Cellular is not licensed to provide service in TX.in effect, my service was coming from towers they were not licensed to use and therefore I would have to cancel my contract.

The contract states that there is a $150 charge per phone for cancelled contracts. I didn't want to cancel my service, I enjoyed my service. However, US Cellular reps told me I HAD to cancel my service because they don't have a license to service me here. It should not be my responsibility to pay a cancellation fee when I don't want to cancel.

Further, it's not my fault that US Cellular isn't licensed in the area I now live. I had 3 phones, totalling $450 in cancelation fees all because US Cellular isn't licensed. I felt forced into cancelling and I felt tricked into paying for their problem. They attempted to make it ok by only charging 50% of the cancellation fee. Still a big chunk of change!!!
