Made promises they could not keep and penalized me for it

We first met Kristi Oman, with her magazine smile and perfectly combed hair in Minneapolis at the Semple Mansion wedding reception office. She was very eager for us to rent the space and could tell we loved it and did her best to make sure that happened. We ended up signing the lease with her after she laughed everything off and went on and on about how flexible of a company they are and no need to get anything in writing as they've never had any problems. Little did we know we were about to get screwed sideways and soon found out she was a professional manipulator and bold faced liar. We were told to rent the space "as is" for the price we negotiated paying no water, trash or electric for a years lease. When we arrived with our keys to the space, less than half of the light bulbs worked, there was garbage everywhere and NO running water. Within 4 months, extra charges starting magically appearing on our monthly invoice, for water and sewer charges. I disputed this with Kristi and she seemed to remember "never" having any of the agreed conversations we had at the time in signing the lease. I checked the lease and there was nothing stating in it as it was my fault I did not get it in writing. A year was up and that is when she decided to royally screw us.

After informing her of our 60 day notice, all professionalism in her body went right out the window. After telling me she would begin to market the space the next day and would do everything in her power to get it rented, she did just the exact opposite. We had one date planned for professional pictures to be taken and I couldn't make it. She called me 2.5 weeks later (half way through the 60 day mark she still had not marketed the space) screaming her head off and then hung up on me. Not my fault, hers. She's owned this building for years and mysteriously didn't have any photos on file, not even the ones we saw on craigslist from the year before. I am not one to write reports but I could not believe how she treated us in the end after paying her so much money over the course of a year. She promised to give us our entire damage deposit if we painted the entire space - all 2400 squ feet of it. So in good faith we did and then she came back with telling us that we only made a verbal agreement regarding our 60 day notice and that in our lease it stated we needed a written one, even after she said I did not need to supply her with one. It took us $300,3 people and 3 full days to paint the place and did not receive our deposit back. She said it was because when she made the promise, she was under the assumption she had it rented already. Do not rent from her, she is a CROOK!
