Cummings Property Cummings Properties Raised My Rent

My Name is Mary and I am a small business owner in the Boston area and I rent office space from Cummings Properties. I recently was notified that Cummings Properties has decided to raise my rent by almost 15%! I understand that they are a business but sticking it to the little guy is not a very nice thing to do especially to a small business owner who is struggling through a recession during one of the worst economic times since the great depression.
I am in a lease that is planned to go up each year for a standard of living increase. Why would I sign a lease for numerous years for it just go up every year? If I know that I would have never signed for the business space. At the end of the day there are many small businesses occupying Cummings Properties business space and sticking it to them during this time should be reviewed. I understand they are a business and need to make money but raising the rent right while most companies are losing money every single day is not the right way to go about things. I would never encourage anybody to go with Cummings Properties to sign for business space.
