Sears
Selling Junk

Miscellaneous

Two years ago, I purchased 3 patio furniture sets from Sears. I paid almost $1700 in total. One of the sets had a slate table top. The first 3 that were delivered were damaged. Finally I received one intact. Last year the umbrella on another set broke. I had opened it only twice before. The all-weather seats on the same set started to burn in the sun. This year I sat for the first time on a chair in my bistro set and the all-weather rattan split and began to unravel. I weigh 118 lbs. So I doubt that was the issue. Each time I had to contact the manufacturer rather than Sears and each time it took months to resolve the problem. The last one, the rattan chair, I was told was out of warranty and there was nothing that could be done. When I tried to call the store on numerous occasions, either no one answered or when I finally contacted the department, I would be disconnected after waiting on hold for a manager after about 8 minutes.

I don't often shop at Sears because I have had issues with their products in the past; a vacuum cleaner that 'died' after 9 months - I was told they are only built to last for one year; a lawn mower that even the sales person was unable to start; a part for a new gas range, that is still being sold, that I was told there was no stock number for and therefore I was unable to acquire. The list goes on. Fortunately I will not! There are far too many other choices in the retail market... Sears will never be mine again.
