Extended warranty vacuum claim bounced between retailer and manufacturer

I purchased an extended warranty on a Bissell Vacuum. When I took it into a Sears authorized service center, they indicated that it was unrepairable and to contact Bissell. Bissell indicated that it was past the one year factory warranty and to contact Sears. I am now in a loop of calling Sears, Bissell, and Sears Protection Company, with each pointing at the other. Conclusion, this extended warranty purchased through SPC is worthless. - Update, after numerous calls, SPC finally stepped up and gave me a new vacuum. I am now happy - but wonder why I had to do so much phone work to get this done?
