Miscellaneous

I recently moved 10 miles up the road. I am a senior living with a limited income. I have a local call only home phone and DSL internet service for several years. Most of the time they have agreed to work with me on little problems etc. When I moved, I called and asked for a second line put into the new home. The rep said it would cost $57.00 on top of my $30.00 phone bill. I agreed and scheduled them. Imagine my surprise when I got the bill for $348.67. The first time I called I got an idiot who started to read my bill, he had no answers as to why the 10x my regular bill. I asked for a supervisor he said would call. Never did. I called back today and spoke to a woman who agreed to credit the $82.00 for the service call over and above the $57.00 that I agreed to pay. She said the $49.00 was to transfer the phone to my new address, and couldn't be credited. Even though nobody told me that it would be charged. Her response to that statement was: "It's your word against the reps"!!! What?!?! She got the bill down to $216.00 with credits that were wrongly charged. I asked for for a new written statement with what was being charged she said: "We don't send out written statements. We can make payment arrangements though." So their attitude is: Pay it and don't ask questions. Never again AT&T Never again!!! I still do not know what they are charging me for. I will pay my regular bill and the $57.00 but they can forget the rest if they can't justify it.
