Unfair layway practice

I was Told on the phone by babies r us that they do layaway. So I went to the store above to put baby bedding on lay away for my daughters baby shower it was a two hundred dollar item. I told them that will pick it up 6/3. It was not going to be any longer. I did this because they send me a coupon for 20 percent off, they refused to do it they say that it was not on their layaway list. I do not think this is fair. This item was very. Expense. And my Daughter has a Registry for her baby shower with them they will be making a lot of money with are family. Buying their Produce. Their should have a fairer layaway practice.
