When I cancelled my one service (internet) with Cox in August of I began having problems.initially they assigned my email address to my roommates account (we had different accounts). While this was thier mistake, after hours on the phone, I had to have a 3 way call and have my ex roommate verify I was never to be put on her account. When this was finally cleared up - after many days and hours a new problem arose.

I soon received phone calls from an independent company saying I had un-returned equipment that belonged to cox - a TV cable box. At the time, I hadn't had a TV or TV service for 1.5 years. I called Cox directly and after many more hours they communicated that this was for an un-returned cable box from 2002.in I had continuous cable service until I did not have un-returned equipment. I was continually transfered from service, to billing to another department to help see if they could track thier equipment. With generosity, the billing held off on taking me to collections and I was told to "hope we find it" as my means of recourse and comsumer justice. I was told to call again in January.

Today, I called again (Jan) and found that the charge was taken off on Dec 15, of which I had not received a letter or proof. I asked the rep if I could recieve some notice letting me know this was handled and I was not considered in debt to them and this was cleared up (for good) and she stated, "so sorry, I have nothing to give you, would you like my name?" She was kind and I am left worried about future charges of which I am not responsible.

I feel concerned about doing future business with this company again - the service reps were kind, but the system was confusing, disorganized and I falsly was accused of holding equipment and was asked to pay or have my credit affected.

I can't put my finger on it, but something unethical is happening with the equipment return system.
