Scanjet 3300c Stopped Recognizing Drivers and Phone Support Is Web-Only

I have an older scanner and it stopped working. I have gone to ultra measures of uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and updates and still my old scanner won't recognize drivers anymore. I called HP and was on the phone for about an hour just to find that they only support by web. I followed the instructions on their website but still NG. This scanner is perfectly good but I guess the manufacturers expect us to throw it out and buy a new one every time Microsoft creates an issue with drivers because of their security and licensing updates. No wonder the Japanese and China are kicking our butts.
