Scanner and Drivers Discontinued - their professionalism sucks!

I purchased an early model Mustek Scanner aout a year ago. It is a multipass scanner and I have been very pleased with the product. It worked very well.

I have spent a lot of money upgrading my computer including the purchase of windows 2000. I have had many hardware compatibility issues with windows 2000 most of which I have been able to overcome except one. This one has to do with the compatibility of the mustek scanner driver.

I recently called mustek tech support. I waited for over 20 minutes for them to answer. Of courser they began with their usual "Thank you for calling mustek technical support, how can we help you today?" pitch.

I told them what I was calling about, gave them the make and model of the scanner and they and told them that OS I was using and the first words out of their mouth with attitude were, "IT WONT WORK! You will have to purchase a new scanner!"

I asked them about an updated driver to which they responded that they were no longer supporting the older models and were phasing them out. As I understand they are no longer supporting and/or phasing out some 20 to 25 models of their product.

Well, I want to tell you that I understand how business works and also about "professional attitude". They were anything but professional and I see them "phasing" themselves right out of business!

I am still on the hunt for a driver for my product and if worse comes to worse am looking into un-engineering their driver program and re-writing it in order to support this product.

As a consumer this is something that should not have to be done! I am going to try one moer time to talk with them on this but I dont see them working anything out, I guess they are just a bit to proud about their product, which is a good one by the way, dont get me wrong, but their professionalism sucks!
