Money for truss should be returned

The contractor, changed spec on blue print without notifing me, I had him to stop working, wrote the letter on Jan 14. He called Jan 19 siad he didn't owe me any money and no explaination for $12,000.00 he was given. The trusses he had paid for he cancelled the order and pocketed the money. Called him again to discuss the problem, he said I don't owe you no explaination, you fired me I'm not your contractor so I don't owe you anything, I'm not going to argue with you good bye and rudely hung up in my face. We had met prior to this date, It was stated to me by his foreman & Christie, she don't like our work let her get someone else
