Direct TV Bait and switch, cancellation fee, credit threat, ripoff

I ordered HD, they came out and installed normal satellite. I called to ask about this and they said they could upgrade me to HD for more money. I cancelled service and they said I had to pay a $400.00 cancellation fee. I refused to pay as I had no contract with them. They said that talking to them obligated me to their contract. I complained and they passed my account to a collection agency. They threatened to report this to the credit agency and damage my credit ratings.

My advice it to stay s far away from DirectTV as possible. Read the hundreds of problem here on usacomplaints.com and the thousands of problems on other internet spots. Direct TV's policies make even Comcast look good.
