Uninformed early cancellation fee

I ordered Direct TV through a promotional cost for a year. I was dissatisfied with the reception I was getting and I found out recently that I was not getting the HD channels that I was paying for. I had problems with their billing department and customer service. My calls where not connecting to talk with someone. Beside that I felt their regular cost for their service was to high for the service that I was actually getting.
The big issue is the cancellation fee. I canceled service after a year and few months. I was told I had to pay an early cancellation fee ($112.00). When I had ordered the service over the phone, I was not told about an early cancellation fee. The confirmation email had no mention of an early cancellation fee. And the billing statement had no mention of a early cancellation fee.
It is deceitful not to be informed about the terms of a supposed contract. The early cancellation fee was charged on my credit card without my knowledge.
All in all I regret ever ordering Direct TV.
Companies should be responsible to inform their customers about contracts and early cancellation fees.
