Readers Services Charged Me Twice in One Month Without Permission, Threatening to Report to Collections

Miscellaneous

A magazine company called on a private number and falsely identified itself as Readers Services, saying I'd had an account with them for years. They asked me to verify my account and then they said my first payment would start in a month and that the following payments would be taken out of my account once a month.
However, during the first month, they charged me twice a month under the company name "MAGAZINES" so I had to cancel my credit card. My credit card company confirmed that the phone number the company had on file was invalid because the voice mailbox was always full. Thankfully, my credit card company funded the two charges.
I thought everything was over until a month later, the company called again on a private number. They kept calling until I picked up and again, they identified themselves as Readers Services. The man demanded a new form of payment or he would report me to collections. He refused to give me his phone number so I could call him back but then he relented and gave me (888) 435-5757. Of course, this was another invalid number. I even had my credit card company call and check if the number was a fake, which it was.
I received a magazine in the mail that I had agreed to buy at the time of the first call, so I called their subscription line and spoke to a rep who told me that Patriotic Readers Club from Denver, Colorado had subscribed me. This is how I know their real name was NOT Readers Services as they had twice claimed.
I have sinced filed reports with the BBBs and Attorneys General in Colorado and my state.
