Family Readers Club
Family Readers Club is a rip off and here is what you should do

Shops, Products, Services

I once had ordered magazine from a company not Family Readers Club and the particular woman on the phone seemed to be nice so I told myself why not. So I purchased these magazines all in about three payments.in roughly a year later Family Readers Club was pretending that they were this company and that they had lost there records. I remembered how nice the woman was who had sold me the magazines and like a fool I gave this new person my information. I even gave them an address that I lived at 8 months ago when I had purchased the subscription, beleiving that they were just updating there record. I had told this person on the phone that I did not want them to charge my card and not have another subscription of magazines. Then one day I saw a 49 dollar charge. I called them and told them what they had done and they called me a liar and that they had me on a recording. I told them I am not lieing and if there was a contract made by the recording that I had expressed to the woman that I did not want to be charged on this card and did not want another subscription, so that should consitute my cancellation. He continues calling me a liar and this goes no where so I hang up on him. Of course they had sent me a letter saying that they are going to send me to a third party and ruin my credit if they don't get over a $1000 (To some this can be considered extortion). They also call me once a week.
People, this is what I did from the recommendation from other quotes from past employees who have worked there. Cancel the charge if this was done by a bank account or charge back by credit card. You will get your money back if done soon enough. Change your card number and phone# (they will keep calling you even though you tell them to $#* off). File a complaint to the BBB and call Family Readers Club transaction company (1-800-687-8505) (They do the transactions for Family Readers Club and are not Family Readers Club). This will smooth thing through when your bank tries to get your money. An oral agreement is not good when the total amount is over $500. It is also no good when the contract cannot be performed in one year (Like twenty something monthly payments they tried to stick me with). They are also located in Canada not New York like they imply. They know there conduct is very questionable. There tranaction company had told me that this was a fraudulent company and that they had charged a 12 year old boy for nude magazines. So I implore you, do not listen to there threats and by all means get your money back. They will not send you to a third party and they will not ruin your credit. Take it from a person who has gone through this dance with them.
