Allowed unauthorized transactions to be made on the account to put me in a 24 month contract - that I had NO idea about until I wanted to cancel!

So first off Directv failed to tell me that I was in a ONE year contract when signing up for service. My bill has NEVER been the same and I have had to call them EVERY month since I got service. After service was added, one of my roommates called in to Directv and added a DVR to my account. I was not aware that this was added to my account. This addition to my account put me in a 24 month contact. Furthermore, another DVR was added to my account a month later which I again was unaware of, and in turn added ADDITIONAL months to my contract. I called directv to cancel service due to the fact that I was moving home. They told me then that I was in a 24 month contract and I would need to pay for each month that was left. I told them that I was not aware of this and that I did NOT add the DVRs to my account. A representative told me that if someone calls in and can verify my name, address, and phone number that they can make changes. Well HELLO... It was my roommate and obviously they know those 3 things. My friends from other states know that info and according to a Rep, they could make a change as well. I spoke with a manager and was given the same info. I have fought with them for HOURS on the phone. I work in the industry where my company provides services to the community and a change CANNOT be made to an account without notifying the account holder. Directv NEVER contacted me about the changes made to my account. I was then told that the 24 month contract was signed when the equipment was brought to my home. I tried to explain to the Reps and the Managers that I talked to that I WAS NOT home to sign this contract. Furthermore, I was then told that it is not in the paperwork and that it was a VERBAL contract. So which is it? Why are they lying to everyone? This is just a scam. And believe me... EVERYONE I have talked to that say they want to get Directv... I tell them its a scam. I contacted the FCC about the issue and the FCC told me that they don't regulate Directv. What laws do they actually follow? The manager told me the FCC regulates them. Point is... Directv is AWFUL... Customer service is AWFUL... The reception in the home is AWFUL!
