Told to Upgrade Again After Six Weeks, Charged Second Time

I upgraded my WhatsApp 6 weeks ago, and the upgrade cost me R18. This morning, the 6th of May, I was told that the version I have is too old and I need to upgrade yet again. I don't understand why I have to upgrade every 6 weeks and spend so much money on this stupid upgrade.
When you upgrade, the upgrade website tells you that you will pay 99 cents a year for it, and if you have already paid, then they won't charge you, but they did charge me the second time around.
