I subscribed to Ancestry.com about 45 days ago. I entered my credit card information and specifically did not check the box on their page for them to automatically bill the same credit card for the next payment. I did not check this box because I did not want future payments to come from this credit card.
However, they still billed my credit card without my authorizaton. I called the company immediately when I found out what had happened and was told by the person I spoke with that they weren't aware of this option, and also that she had cancelled my subscription and it would run out Feb 4.
I told her that I wanted it to end NOW and asked to speak to a supervisor immediately. After speaking with a supervisor and pointing it out to him that they had made an unauthorized credit card transaction, he agreed to cancel my subscription however he would not give me a refund.
After this I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and upon researching the company before I filed the complaint. They have a Derrogatory Rating due to billing and subscripton complaints. SO BUYER BEWARE!
You can double check this for yourself, go to ancestry.com and go through the steps of getting a subscription, when you get to the payment information it is clearly stated there, ALso, look at their record with the Better Business Bureau
