Amazon
Don't try to pay with your checking account Seattle

Internet & Web

On January the 30th, I try to order a desktop computer, a laptop and a printer. The total was just under $2700. About 3 hours after I get my confirmation email, I get an email saying my order was canceled because they my bank couldn't verify my address. Whatever, I'll try again. That one got canceled almost immediately. Ok, I'll try Monday.

Monday, try again, this time my bank refused to authorize or something. I called my bank. Had almost an hour long conversation with him while he was trying to figure out why they'd say that. He couldn't find a reason. So, I call Amazon. They tell me to call Telecheck. I called Telecheck, who had authorized every single attempt since the initial one. (The woman there told me they had 15, fifteen! Authorizations they had approved with Amazon)

I email Amazon, and I got a generic email saying Telecheck has to authorize it and they give me the number I called already. Ok, the circle starts over. Again, Telecheck tells me I'm good, so I place the order again, this time for just the $300 printer and some paper.

IT ACTUALLY GOES THROUGH! But wait, I get an email from Amazon saying my bank account got declined. Basically, they were saying I had bounced a check. I had just gotten my taxes back and I had $5100 in my checking. They tell me to call Telecheck/TRS Recovery. I did, and for the 47th time, said I was good.

Sent Amazon a long winded email and guess what? I actually got a response that was written by an actual human being! There is a God! He said everything was good, and I did my get my printer and my paper, albeit much later than I should have gotten it. I ordered my computers through another site.

The only thing that irked me was I had used them many times in the past, and used the same method of payment every time. Paying straight out of your bank is also their "preferred" method of payment. Don't try to do it, though.
