Doesn't ask for method of payment Internet

Internet & Web

I ordered 3 books online through Amazon which I've been doing for years. Normally, a screen normally pops up asking for method of payment. This is convenient since different household members utilize Amazon with different credit cards. However, no screen came up, and I thought I hadn't ordered anything. However, when I went back to order the books, a screen popped up thanking me for my order. I found out several days later that, instead of using a credit card, the system defaulted to a bank account that I no longer use. I received emails from Amazon indicating my payments were not fulfilled through the bank and told me to call a "Recovery Service". I did, and the REcovery Service didn't know anything about Amazon but confirmed that many people were calling in with similar stories. I called back Amazon's customer service who confirmed there was a glitch in their system, and the system's payment method defaulted, in error, to a bank account rather than ask for a credit card. Apparently, Amazon tried to put the charges through this bank and couldn't, so my bank charged me $34 for each book, totalling $102. I filled out a number of forms, submitted a copy of my bank statement, and unfortunately, received an email from Amazon indicating it was all my fault, not theirs and they would not be giving me back the bank charges. The email indicated that the system must have asked for a credit card, and for some unknown reason, I gave them a bank account that I don't use. Problem is Amazon "keeps charging" my bank account, and I'm up to $306 in overdraft fees with no end in sight. When I call Amazon, they indicate they have no record of charging my bank, and it must be a mistake. This is a nightmare. Is anyone else having the same problem?
