Windows XP Upgrade Disc Return Refused After Box Opened

I purchased what I thought was a windows xp 2004 upgrade for my Dell computer it turned out to a 2002 upgrade which I already have when I tried to return the cd i was told because i had opened the box best buy would not except it back. I did not touch the cd at all. So i am out one hundred and seven dollars total ripoff.
