Purchased a Dell computer with some software included

Norton was already installed when I purchased my Dell computer. When I tried to uninstall, my computer would not let me connect to the internet. I had to take it back to Best Buy and was charged $29.99 since it was a software problem and not covered under the warranty. I had only had the computer for 5 weeks. The Geek Squad said this happens all the time, so why don't they warn you?
