Slamming or Phishing ripoff

In opening my recent phone bill I found, to my suprise, an additional charge of $14.96 plus taxes, for an internet service I never asked for or wanted.

I promptly call them and informed them of that, and demanded a cancellation and refund. They insisted that I indeed signed up for their service and said they sent me an email with a password and account information.

I never received any such email! I don't know how they obtained my phone number.

Upon my insistance they said they would cancel the account. I told them that they would not only cancel the account, but credit my phone bill with the current charge.

I just received an email confirming they did this.

I still believe they are ripping off unsuspecting internet users.
