Countertop Order Came Up Short, Extra $1600 Demanded

We asked for a quote, and they sent a man out to measure. He measured and gave us the papers to take to the store so the order could be written up. We did that and paid for the order. However, when it came time for the installation, the store called to tell us that the man who did the measuring was not authorized to do so, and that the order was 40 sq. ft. short according to the manufacturer and installer. Hence, we have to pay $1600.00 more, and until we pay it, no work will be done.

By then we had already demolished the counter, so we had to go ahead with the work, in spite of the fact that the order states that the minute we paid for it, we had a written contract with Home Depot.

We have written to the CEO of Home Depot but have received no response. We are extremely unhappy and would never do any work with Home Depot again.
