Qwest billing mistakenly cancelled my account with directv and now they're requesting an early cancellation fee

My roommate, who was in charge of paying the Qwest DirecTV and High-Speed Internet bill payed a bill late. Qwest made a mistake and canceled the account.

My roommate called customer service and resolved the error with the internet and we got it working. However, DirecTV sent boxes for the receivers and my roommate mailed the receivers back (I did not consent to this).

DirecTV then wanted a credit card on file—since other people seem to have issues with DirecTV scamming their credit card, neither one of us wanted to put our credit card on file.

DirecTV is now requesting that I pay an early cancellation fee since the account has not been resumed. After the debacle with DirecTV, I DO NOT wish to have the service any longer, I am content with Comcast for my TV and internet.

What do I do?
