Deceptive selling practices and rude customer service agents

My sister purchased a camera on my recommendation from Broadway. The company called to confirm the purchase with my father, since his credit card was used.in confirming his order, the customer service agent also told him that for his camera to work properly, he would need serveral items.

One of these items was a camera battery, saying that the camera would only work for 20 minutes and he needed another battery. This was an outright lie. They also told him he needed a 3 filter set because there would be fisheye problems and the light would hit the lens all wrong. Another lie. They told him he needed an additional $500 over the purchase price for the camera to work. All lies.

When I called customer service, because nobody responded to our e-mail, I was greeted by Nathan, at ext. 260. I proceeded to tell my story, he cut me off and told me that I was treating him like a dog, not true, and that he wasn't responsible for the father's purchase.

I tried to explain to him that this was not the case and he said that maybe if I stopped talking I could hear what he had to say. I told him that I couldn't finish talking beacuse he kept cutting me off.

At some point Nathan said I could talk for 10 minutes and he wouldn't interrupt. About 3 minutes in to my talking, he interrupted me. I pointed out that my 10 minutes hadn't passed. He argued with me and then said I could talk.

When I tried to finish my complaint, he put me on hold. I stopped talking. He responded, "You stopped talking." I told me that he had put me on hold. He denied this and I said that all I wanted was my authorization code to return the camera, because you cannot return materials wihtout an authorization code given on the phone. I was willing to keep the camera and return the rest of the materials, but I was disrespected and treated rudely the entire time I was on the phone.

I want other people to know that this company uses deceptive selling practices and has terrible customer service. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of New York, but hope that others will see this and not purchase from this company because they don't deserve your money.
