Wireless ripoff Supposed rebates for cell phones that are never received Most recently, claim to have sent rebate card, never received Evansville Indiana

In the past 2 1/2 years I have purchased two new cell phones for myself that were both claimed to have rebates offered with their purchases. The first of the two: I mailed the rebate and unfortunately mislaid my copies of the forms, so I could'nt prove my claim when I contacted Cingular about not having received the rebate.

In Dec I bought a RAZR advertised with a $50 visa gift card rebate. I immediately mailed all of the proper forms and made copies for my files. I received emails telling me when they received my rebate info, and that my gift card would be sent in 6-8 weeks. The time came and went, then I received notice that the card was mailed in February. I have never received anything resembling such promised gift card and today is May 7. I used their "rebate" website to report the problem with no response.

I have carried a cell phone account with Cingular for 7 years now and for the past 4 years have also carried 2 "Family Talk" phone accounts associated with this original account. I have considered switching to a different carrier just on the basis of these hokey rebate practices. I'm sick of feeling powerless to these huge companies who can keep you on a recording "endless loop" when you try to get answers rather than treat you like a valued customer. Trying to get answers on their website is a trip to No-man's Land as well.
