Lowermybills - Wirefly - Cingular Wireless rebate ripoff Cell phone rebate is a myth

I obtained cell phone service with Cingular through the Lowermybills.com/wirefly site specifically because they offered a significant rebate on the Razr. The way the rebate was supposed to work is that I had to submit certain materials two months after I got the phone for one rebate and again five months later for an additional rebate.in each case I had to send in a copy of my bill showing that I was current in my payments.

I missed the first rebate because I never received a bill from Cingular and so when the next bill came it showed a past due amount. OK, I thought that things sometimes happen and maybe I missed it but I started to double check and made sure going forward that I kept the bills current. I paid my last bill (bill number 4) through my Citibank account and Citi has a record that they sent the funds and that Cingular received them. When bill #5 came it showed a past due amount and Cingular does not have a clue about what happened to the money. Of course, rebate #2 is now also history.

Now maybe this is all just one big coincidence and that it was just chance that the two bills that I needed to have be OK were the only two that have been messed up by Cingular. However, when I read about the problems other people have had with lowermybills/wirefly it looks like they just do not want to pay the rebates and will do whatever possible to avoid doing so. This is in addition to making the rebates themselves as confusing as and as difficult as possible to submit properly in any event. Just read the fine print on the rebates and you will see what I mean.
