Hewlett-Packard (HP)
MODEL DV7-4060us laptop - HP DV7 Entertainment laptop

Electronics and household app.

I purchased a HP laptop in late 2010. It had a issue overheating after a few months. It was my first laptop so I assumed they had lass air flow and it was a normal occurrence. After about 15 months, the video screen stopped working. Since it was no longer under warranty I took it to a computer reapair place. I paid $60 to have them look at it and determine they could not fix it. I kept it as a paperweight because I did not want the hard drive data stollen if I threw it away. Recently I learned that one of my staff was savy with computers so I brought my HP paperweight to him to look at (he repaired computers before joing the Army). He researched my paperweight laptop and learned that my model motherboard had a design flaw and did overheat and had issues with the video. Guess what. That was my issue. The laptop overheated and eventually the video screen stopped working. I have since bought apple computers after my experience with my HP laptop. If HP was aware of a design flaw, did they give any consideration for those of us who purchased their products. I still have my laptop, but when it boots up fine and shows nothing on the screen what do you do. Can HP do the Right Thing and correct the deficiency with my laptop even though it is out of warranty?
