Remodel, beware the sales pitch!

Construction & Repair

The sales pitch makes you believe that everything they do is above board and their word is gold. When things go south, and they will, you find out just how much his word is worth. I found out too late from other construction people how this guy's shop operates. You will be promised five star quality work with top of the line materials. He wont put the specifics in writing because you will end up with cheap materials. The sliding doors and windows are the most blaring examples but the list is endless.

If they can find a way to cut corners, they do it. I observed the work as it was being done, which they would prefer you not for obvious reasons. I cannot count the number of mistakes that I called them on. If I hadn't payed attention, they would have let them go. It was a constant battle. Not the we're family relation he lets you believe you will experience. Get it in writing and Save every piece of paper because things you negotiate early on will disappear in future drawings. His memory gets really bad once that happens. He had one person working the concrete for the foundation on a super hot day and the result is my garage floor looks like the surface of the ocean.

If he says it will be done in six-eight months, expect 12 months like my job. This is not a problem for him because four months in you realize that his payment schedule as he showed it to you is not listed chronologically, he spreads the big figures out on the list so that you don't see that while your house is a disaster, he has 85-90% of the money and no motivation to hurry up and finish.

He destroyed my newly laid lawn and caused damage to my pool. His people assured me that they would fix everything they damaged. They then proceeded (at the conclusion of the job) to point out a little section in the contract that stated they were not responsible for the damage they were telling me they were going to repair.By the way if you are foolish enough to utilize them (I wouldn't have them build a dog house) you will find that nice salesman turned into an ass when they have their money
