Unprofessional service ripoff

When the rep came to give us an estimate, he told us that this company has many years of experience and their staff are well experienced. The moving date was set on 8/25/07 at 9:00 am. On Saturday 8/25/07 the truck came at 9:20 am with no explanation for lateness.

When they started to put apart our furniture it was obvious that two out of three guys had no clue what they were doing. At approximately 02:10 pm (everything was on the truck), we were asked to give them $400 deposit and filled out a "contract". At this time we got no receipt and no copy of "contract". The estimate cost was $900 plus tolls.

The truck came to our place in PA at 5:30 PM. They started to put everything together. Since it was getting late, me and my wife started to help them to take the staff out from the truck. At around 9:00 pm the main older guy by name Sergey called us and said to give the rest of the money to him (he said it must be done one hour before the completion), but the price went up from $900 to $1300 plus $28 for tolls.

We had no choice but to give them the rest of the money ($1328 less $400 deposit $100 tips =$1028) again we got no receipt or contract. At 10:15 they said, ok you helped us to put apart one of the wardrobe, you could put it together yourself. I said no way, i paid you for this and you have to do.

I went to the basement to check on my kids and when i came back 5 minutes after they were gone (they even took the toll receipts and some of our tools, that we gave them to put the furniture together). I called Sergey's cell phone, but he didn't want to talk to me. I called their office, left my cell phone number, also told the women who picked up the phone, that we are very unhappy and would like to talk to a manger. She promised that manager will call us on Monday (never did). When workers were at our house, we found out that they are J1 visa holders, have no experience working in moving company and just trying to earn some money.

If we were giving the right service by the professional movers, the job could be done in half time less. The service was not performed as promised. The price we paid was too much for J1 visa holders.
